Average Ring Size
There is no single average ring size that determines an individual fit. Blue Nile's 2017 guidance describes commonly purchased US sizes: 5–7 for women and 8–10.5 for men. These are retail ranges, not a population survey.

Are men's and women's ring sizes the same?
Yes. Ring size systems are unisex, so a US 7 is the exact same physical size whether a man or a woman wears it. There is no separate men's or women's scale, only the same millimeter measurement labeled the same way. Retail purchase patterns cannot tell you the size of a particular person's ring finger.
Use averages only when you cannot measure.
